ANA Cable Car Chase

Race Website:  www.anacablecarchase.com

What is the quintessential San Francisco run?

If you think it's got spectacular bay views, clanging trollies, Japanese taiko drummers, barbershop quartets, Olympic Trials qualifers, and hills, hills, and a few more hills, then the answer is the Cable Car Chase--an "only in San Francisco" experience.

San Francico natives and longtime residents fondly remember the quirky, 5.67 miles Cable Car Chase. Held throughout the eighties, the event included a race-within-a-race, where runners raced to beat a cable car to the top of Nob Hill.

The race took a hiatus in the nineties, but returned to the streets of San Francisco in 2003.  The race was welcomed back by many Cable Car Chase alumni, as well as newbies ready for the challenge of tackling California Street. The runners may have changed, but the hills and cable cars remain!

Fast Twitch is excited to produce the ANA Cable Car Chase. The race represents everything that's great about running in San Francisco--ask Wonder Woman!

Runners Comments from the Cable Car Chase

Thank YOU very much for a spectacular event. The course, the management, the awards, the friendly volunteers, great refreshments and so on--the best event I've had the good fortune to experience in years, maybe ever. All the best. Be well. (Donald A)

"
For the past three years, ANA and the City of San Francisco have resurrected this running event in first-class form. Same day online finish results, a beautiful course, an organized event staff, and a splendid SF community turnout have made the ANA Cable Car Chase one of my favorite Bay Area road races. I would also like to give a warm thank you to the SF Boys Chorus for sharing their joyful melodies on an early Sunday morning!"  (Jason B)

I want to thank you personally for putting on such a good race. Your work was excellent and of the highest quality. I truly enjoyed running the race, difficult as it was over the hills........Other then that, you hit a home run. Thanks once again. (Paul M)

I have to tell you, I’ve volunteered as well as participated in my share of athletic events, and this was one of the smoothest I’ve participated in. Please keep me on your list for when you need volunteers. (Julie J)

Great race. Thanks to all the volunteers. I had a lot of fun and I am looking forward to next years. Cheers! (DJ)

I had a great time, Nob Hill totally kicked my a** (edited), but it was well worth it. Thanks. (Lynnesa)

Wanted to thank the volunteers for the enthusiasm they showed this year at the race - lots of smiles and cheers. Fun race - thanks for organizing. (Rachel D)
